Kayden Burns
I say alarming things with a completely straight face. You’ve been warned.
Who I am
I’m Kayden (they/them). A dry-humored, satirical social worker navigating a state of perpetual existential uncertainty. I spent 14 years working in US healthcare, decided that wasn’t enough chaos, and moved to Nova Scotia in early 2026.
My clinical background bridges medical inpatient care, geriatric social work, and Internal Family Systems based private practice. I came from Massachusetts and landed in Dartmouth. I’m still figuring out what it all means and I’m documenting the important parts.
What I do
I make content about what it actually looks like to leave the US - the immigration process, the healthcare system whiplash, and navigating the existential bardo of querying “did I make a mistake” at 2am. Sometimes it’s funny. Sometimes it’s emotional. Occasionally unhinged.
If you’re an American considering the move, an immigrant who is already somewhere new, or just watching from a safe distance while things get weird - this is for you.
